How to make Layered Cookies in a Jar

What you need to make Mason Jar Cookie Recipe:

No need to buy Quart mason jars unless you are making these layered cookies in bulk. Any large jar will work, we used old pickle jars, marinara jars, and larger sized natural peanut butter jars.

I have also used large cello bags (clear gift bags), not as a pretty presentation but just as a tasty result.

TIPS for making layered Valentine cookie mix in a jar:

1. Layer Ingredients Carefully:

Ensure that you layer the dry ingredients in a visually appealing manner. Start with the ingredients that have a larger particle size, such as flour or oats, at the bottom of the jar.

Then add ingredients like chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits. Finish with the smallest particles, like sugar or baking powder, on top. This not only looks attractive but also helps prevent the ingredients from settling and mixing during transportation.

Just be sure to press the ingredients lightly with each layer addition or you will run out of room.

  • This recipe can be adapted for any occasion.
  • Use whatever we have in the pantry to equal the 1 1/2 cups of chips. (m&ms, toffee bites, white chips etc…)
  • If you don’t have fabric, a cupcake liner will work on smaller lids. Just glue it on.

2. Include Clear Instructions:

Attach a recipe card or label to the jar with clear and concise instructions on how to turn the jar’s contents into delicious cookies. Include any additional wet ingredients needed, baking time, and temperature. This makes it easy for the recipient to whip up a batch of cookies without any confusion.

Decorate the Jar:

Enhance the presentation by decorating the jar. Use colorful fabric or ribbon to cover the lid, and attach a personalized gift tag. You can also add a festive touch by tying a cookie cutter or a small ornament to the jar.

Not only does this make the gift visually appealing, but it also adds a thoughtful touch that shows you put effort into creating a special present.

How to Decorate Valentine’s day cookie jar

I bought 1/2 yard of fabric at JoAnn’s and it cost 1.75, will make a lot of covers!!

  • Use a canningfunnel to help keep the mess down, seemed to work well for the kids.
