Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (2025)

In Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, players are rewarded unconventionally for every important decision they make. Whereas most other RPGs simply present narrative or material payoffs, Wrath of the Righteousoffers a fundamental change to gameplay. It's all thanks to the WotR Mythic Paths system, where players are given a choice on what kind of demigod they want to be as the game progresses.

RELATED:

Come late-game, these choices will manifest in a way that, for example, can turn the player characters into a dragon or bunch of locusts, become an avenging angel, or give them the inter-dimensional power to mete out justice. That's something that's never been done in an RPG. Consequently, this ambitious mechanic is hidden behind several layers of exploration or seemingly ambiguous dialogue actions or choices. Some Mythic Paths are easy to miss and require thorough instructions. Here's how to find them all.

Updated on January 31, 2022, by Kristy Ambrose: Now that more players have finished the game and more secrets of the Mythic Paths have been revealed, a few more details can be added to this guide. There aren't any further Pathfinder: WOTR Mythic Pathways to describe, although that could be a possibility with future patches and DLC packs, there's new information on the existing ones to make them easier to find and follow. It should be noted that these are arranged in the order in which the player finds them in the game and some also require a certain moral alignment.

Angel

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (1)

The Angel Mythic Path is pretty standard as far as options go. There are several dialogue interactions where committing to the Angel Mythic Path is required anyway, so it's hard to miss.

  • Alignment Required. Any Good alignment, but Lawful Good is required for the best use of the Angel's powers. It's representative of all the good actions players perform in the game.
  • Special Abilities. Gameplay-wise, it's the perfect choice for anyone wanting to turn their character into a bonafide demon slayer as the anti-demon bonuses, feats, and abilities all stack up. Characters get some extra abilities for wielding Holy Damage, which turns demons into butter.
  • How To Unlock. Acquiring the Angel Mythic Path in Pathfinder: WotR is so easy that players might not have noticed they snagged it already. It's part of the main quest in the Underground Ruins where players first meet Lann and Wenduag. They just need to pick up the Angel's Sword lying nearby.

Demon

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (2)

This is the only other Mythic Path that players can find as early as the Angel, but it's much easier to miss. There are only two chances to unlock the Demon Mythic Path and both of them occur before the Road To Drezen.

  • Alignment Required. As a direct opposite to the Angel Mythic Path, players can also tap into their mindless rage and their inner demons with the Demon Mythic Path. Demons are often Chaotic Evil as part of the lore in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.
  • Special Abilities. The Demon Mythic Path is quite a wild vocation for a chosen one. It has perks that let players grow horns and transform into a demon, further bolstering their natural combat prowess.
  • How To Unlock. If they're not curious enough though, players might easily miss the Demon Mythic Path. It's tucked away in the Shield Maze near the exit, specificallythe area with the cultists and the kidnaped mongrels. Players will need to confer with the interactive energy to acquire the Mythic Path. If they miss it, they can contact the energy again during the first assault to the Worldwound.

Azata

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (3)

Unlocking this Mythic Path can be a chore in Pathfinder: WotR, as players need to not just complete the Starward Gaze quest but also save everyone involved.

  • Alignment Required. Anything Chaotic. The Azata Mythic Path represents the Fey or chaotic freedom in Pathfinder.
  • Special Abilities. They give plenty of options to magic users and ranged classes, and that dragon companion that grows up to become ridable is also a nice perk.
  • How To Unlock. In order to fulfill that quest's conditions for the Azata path, players will need to complete the Starward Gaze quest.
    • Talk to Ramien in front of the Temple of Desna.
    • Rescue Aranka from the Arendae Party House in Kenabres.
    • Find Thall disguised as a crusader near the player's first entrance to Market Square.
    • Return to the Temple of Desna and sing with them.

Aeon

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (4)

One section of the Aeon path requires judging certain people and banishing them from Drezen. Be warned that some of these individuals might be your companions.

  • Alignment Required. Lawful or True Neutral. The Aeon is the polar opposite of the Azata, as they're all about balance and control.
  • Special Abilities. They offer good benefits to summoners and melee fighters, as well as damage negation. Aeons also have a deadly Perception skill, and they have abilities that negate any kind of Illusion magic. This extends to the Crusader armies in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Units have higher saving throws against this school of wizardry.
  • How To Unlock. Like the Azata, the Aeon path is slippery.
    • Go to the area in the Market Square where Terendelev was slain by Deskari.
    • There should be a spot that they'll need to observe and will prompt a set of interactive choices.
    • Pick the option with the words Aeon written explicitly.

Trickster

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (5)

Any player can use this Mythic Path in dialogue choices to get out of certain sticky situations right up until they conquer Drezen and have to dedicate themselves to a single path. For example, use it to call out Nurah earlier and give her a chance to escape or leave if you want.

  • Alignment Required. The Trickster choices are either Evil or Chaotic, so if the character isn't Evil or Chaotic alignment when they start out, they will be eventually.
  • Special Abilities. The Trickster Mythic Path is all about sneak attacks and dealing high damage or staying out of sight. It's great for melee and ranged glass cannons alike.
  • How To Unlock. Unlocking it is a matter of foresight or even luck, and it's not as obvious as other Mythic Paths.
    • Venture to Blackwing Library for the first time. Your arrival initiates a dialogue with the cultists disguised as crusaders burning the real crusaders.
    • Pick the dialogue options that will manipulate them into thinking that the players are their superior.
    • Trick the cultists into fighting and killing one another. This is usually done by picking the evil choices.

Lich

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (6)

In the lore of Wrath of the Righteous, Zacharius was one of the heroes that fought against the demons alongside Yaniel. Several of the local nobility trace their ancestry to him and gush about his goodness. It would be scandalous to reveal he had become a Lich. For some extra fun dialogue here, include Daeran in the party when you explore the Lost Chapel and meet Zacharius.

  • Alignment Required. All the choices on the Lich Mythic Path, except for the choice the player makes when they first pick up the Wand of Zacharias, are Evil or Lawful.
  • Special Abilities. A love letter to evil spellcasters and wizards who are too ambitious, the Lich is a magic and summoner-focused path. This is also a great choice for the Campaign side of the game because every time a Crusader army is victorious, a legion of undead joins the ranks.
  • How To Unlock. One can also easily miss this Mythic Path if they're too brash with their decisions.
    • Find the evil wand near the area boss in Leper's Smile. Keep it rather than destroying it.
    • When you reach the Lost Chapel, Zacharius is calmly waiting by a bookshelf. He won't become hostile just yet, but listen to Seelah when she says not to provoke him.
    • Do NOT fight Zacharius. Give the evil wand to him.

Legend

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (7)

This doesn't mean that the character will lose any abilities, they just won't gain any related to the Pathfinder WotR Mythic Paths.

  • Alignment Required. The gods can't touch you. Be anything you want. With all the Herculean efforts needed for most Mythic Paths, a change of pace is needed and Legend provides that breather.
  • Special Abilities. This Mythic Path is all about becoming a demigod as is, and the rewards and huge stat boosts and a level cap increase.
  • How To Unlock. In order to unlock it, players only need to reach Mythic Rank 8. Thus, they'll unlock this one before several other Mythic Paths become fully available to them.

Gold Dragon

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (8)

Even though it doesn't unlock until much later, the path to begin starts almost immediately. Make sure to collect all of Terendelev's scales in the Underground Ruins or the cave during the prologue of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

  • Alignment Required. Any Good alignment. The answers to unlocking this path in Terendelev's Lair when talking to Hal follow this type of choice.
  • Special Abilities. Gold Dragon Path lets players succeed poor headless Terendelev. The ability to turn into a mighty adult golden dragon. Flight, fire breathing, extra armor, all kinds of great immunities to magic, and more.
  • How To Unlock. Unlocking it requires some dedication and foresight.
    • Show Terendelev's scales to the Storyteller in Kenabras. Make sure you keep at least one of them.
    • Find Terendelev's claw in Leper's Smile.
    • Make sure to complete the Dragon Hunt quest with Greybor to Rescue the Storyteller.
    • Show Terendelev's claw to the Storyteller in Derezen, and he'll tell you where to find Terendelev's Lair.
    • When you go there, don't fight Hal, and don't hurt the cultist.
    • Hal will seek the player out again in Act 5. Be respectful and merciful, and the Gold Dragon Path will become available.

Devil

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (9)

The Devil Mythic Path is quite demanding and will require a specific set of conditions and triggers before it becomes available. Take the Persuasion skill and increase it along with the Charisma ability score.

  • Alignment Required. Evil, preferably Lawful. Devils aren't the same as demons in Pathfinder: WotR, as your character learns. Make Lawful or Evil decisions throughout the game.
  • Special Abilities. It's all about using your authority when it comes to being a devil. Issue special decrees, put magical seals on allies, and imbue weapons with demonic power.
  • How To Unlock. Near the end of Act 2, players must pick either the Aeon or Azata Mythic Path.
    • Depending on which you take, a devil named Melies or an azata named Early Sunset will appear in the court.
    • Accept either as an advisor and follow their suggestions.
    • These paths diverge eventually, with an Aeon standing trial before a host of devils or an Azata rescuing their pet dragon from them.
    • The final decision doesn't come until Act 5 when the player has reached Mythic Rank 9.

Swarm-That-Walks

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous – How To Unlock Each Mythic Path (10)

One of the most difficult Mythic Paths to unlock is the Swarm-That-Walks. Choose this path, and the swarm will either consume the companions or they will leave permanently.

  • Alignment Required. Nothing is required, but being neutral or evil helps.
  • Special Abilities. This Path will literally turn the players into a miniature version of Deskari, complete with the buzzing flies and other icky stuff.
  • How To Unlock. To become the swarm, follow these instructions.
    • Reject Queen Galfrey's proposition to be in the army. That means avoiding the Aeon or Angel dialogue choice if she asks.
    • Fight the Vescavor Queen in Leper's Smile. Choose the evil option and collect the Vescavor Queen's slime.
    • During the siege of Drezen, use the slime to cause a plague that will help the crusaders overtake the city.
    • In the Act 3 questDemonic Parasites, do not kill thebaby Vescavor Queen.
    • Before the fight with the Worm that Walks, a.k.a. Xanthir Vang, ask him first how he became a swarm. Also, read through Xanthir Vang's notes.
    • Afterward, simply pick any option that supports experiments pertaining to a swarm.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is available on PC. The game also releases on March 1, 2022 for PS4 and Xbox One.
