Strawberry Margarita
I hear it’s National Margarita Day and what better way to celebrate than with a fresh Strawberry Margarita!
How to Make a Strawberry Margarita:
Add sliced strawberries, tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice and simple syrup to a blender. Blend until smooth. Run a lime slice around the rim of the glass and dip in coarse salt. Add a bit of lime zest to your salt for a little extra zing. Fill glasses with ice and then add the blended strawberry margarita. Garnish with a fresh strawberry and a slice of lime.
How to make a Frozen Strawberry Margarita:
Use frozen strawberries that are slightly thawed or add ice to the blender with the strawberries, tequila, triple sec, lime juice and simple syrup. If you use sweetened frozen strawberries, you can skip the simple syrup.
How to Make Simple Syrup:
Simple syrup is equal parts sugar and water. Heat water almost to boiling and stir in sugar. Allow mixture to cool before using for drinks. Store in a mason jar for up to 3 weeks.
What’s the Difference between a Strawberry Margarita and a Strawberry Daiquiri?
Both co*cktails are made with strawberries and lime and are blended. Margaritas are made with tequila and daiquiris are made with rum. Both are delicious!
How to Make a Large Batch of Margaritas:
Sometimes you need a big batch of Margaritas to serve a crowd. No one likes to play bartender for the entire party. This recipe serves two just double as needed. Just blend strawberries, lime juice and simple syrup together and then stir in tequila and triple sec when you stir it into the pitcher.

Notes
Variation: Add ice to blender for a frozen margarita. You can also use frozen strawberries that are slightly thawed. If using sweetened frozen berries, skip the simple syrup.
To a shaker (or in my case, a coffee-to go mug), add a handful of ice, 2 ounces of strawberry syrup, tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Shake for 30 seconds. And then, divide amongst the glasses.
A splash of fruit juice can also add some more flavor to your margaritas. Grapefruit juice will give a tart, slightly sour flavor, while pineapple juice creates a more tropical-tasting drink. "Citrus-based juices are essential for balancing out the sweetness of a margarita," David Alan told Insider.
The main difference between strawberry margaritas and daiquiris is the base liquor: Margaritas use tequila and daiquiris require rum. Additionally, frozen strawberry daiquiri recipes typically use simple syrup while margaritas prefer triple sec. Either ingredient can act as the sweetener in both co*cktails.
Triple sec is an orange-flavored liqueur that is commonly used in margaritas. If you don't have triple sec handy, you can substitute with another good-quality orange liqueur like Grand Marnier or Cointreau.
Just as important as the style of tequila is the use of a high-quality orange liqueur. Part of the Daisy category of co*cktails, the Margarita calls for triple sec such as Cointreau for sweetness and balance. Though some may opt for agave nectar instead, the addition of the liqueur is what makes a true Margarita.
In addition to powdered mixes, which are more affordable, restaurants also use liquid mixes they can purchase from their alcohol supplier -similar to the concentrate above. The two most popular mixes that restaurants use for margaritas are Zing Zang Margarita Mix and Jose Cuervo Classic Lime Original Margarita Mix.
With plenty of ice cubes and fresh fruit, it will fill the average Mason jar mug perfectly. To make this margarita, shake 2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce triple sec, and 3 ounces fresh sour mix with ice. Strain it into an ice-filled Mason jar (rimmed, if you like) and add a few lime wedges.
Made from premium Blue Agave Silver Tequila (yes, please) and lightly sweetened with agave nectar, the original Skinnygirl® Margarita is STILL delicious and low-calorie (really?). Yes, really. Serve this refreshingly light low-calorie Margarita in a fun glass rimmed with salt, and you and your girls are good to go!
If you're wondering how many margaritas it'll take to get drunk, we have a very helpful answer: it depends. If you don't drink often and are on the smaller side, it may only take one margarita. If you're a seasoned drinker, it could take a couple margaritas before you're drunk.
A skinny margarita is a low-calorie version of a regular margarita. Instead of using orange liqueur like triple sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier, a skinny margarita uses fresh orange juice and a small amount of agave nectar.
Another possibility is the person who batched the mix didn't add enough orange liqueur or maybe forgot it all together. Without some triple sec or classic curaçao the acidity of the lime juice can sometimes be too overwhelming.
Order “Skinny” margarita, only it doesn't have fake sugar (you'll have to ask your server/bartender). Ask for light to no agave/simple syrup. Tequila neat/straight up with a lime. Ask to swap in Triple Sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier in place of a margarita mix, sugar, or agave.
Fragoli is an Italian liqueur, with real strawberries inside the bottle, that sells for about $40. Though it's not common enough to be at every corner liquor store, places like BevMo tend to carry it.
