In just over 3 weeks time, Super Bowl 58 will kick off in Las Vegas as the two best teams in the NFL vye for the Vince Lombardi trophy. It’s the first time that Sin City has hosted the NFL’s championship game and promises to be a fantastic spectacle of football. If you’re planning on heading out to watch the game with your mates, you’ll be glad to hear that bars around the country will be staying open late for the occasion. Better yet, plenty of Irish American football teams are hosting Super Bowl parties with loads of drink specials, American style food and entertainment! Keep reading for the lowdown on some of the best places to watch the Super Bowl in Ireland!
It used to be the case where you could only find a handful of pubs in Dublin City Centre showing the Super Bowl. Those days are long gone and now you should have no trouble locating somewhere showing the big game, no matter what part of the country you’re in. The capital is still your best bet though, and The Woolshed on Parnell St. is hands down one of the best sports bars to watch the Super Bowl. They usually have drink deals all night and you don’t want to miss their wings! There’s also about 20 screens, including one that runs the length of the wall, so you won’t miss a minute of the action! You better be booking now though, because this place is going to be absolutely rammed on Super Bowl Sunday. Keep an eye out for some of the Dublin Rhinos as well – this is their watering hole!
South of the Liffey, the Dublin Rebels will be hosting their annual Superbowl Party in The Odeon on Harcourt St. Known for being one of the biggest and longest running Super Bowl parties in Ireland, there are the usual food and drink specials, and you might even get to meet a few cheerleaders! Just around the corner in the Harcourt Bar, you’ll find the boys and girls from UCD hosting their own Super Bowl party! In classic student fashion they’ll be playing beer pong and flip cup as part of the pregame festivities and you could even win 2 tickets to this year’s College Football Classic! Heading up north on the M1, you’ll also find some great spots to watch the Super Bowl – especially in Drogheda, Belfast and even further afield. For the second year running, The Cross on George’s St in Drogheda will be open late on February 11th especially to show the game live from Vegas. This is one of the best local bars in the town and their upstairs cinema room is sure to be buzzing with local NFL fans gathering to tune in. In Belfast, the Trojans will be out in force at the Botanic Inn to put on the “biggest and best Super Bowl party”. On the night, fans will be treated to a free pint on arrival, half time entertainment and raffles, drinks promotions and most importantly, 45 screens!
